Manatí

The town was named after the local marine life: the manatees found along the north shore. Manatí has a rich artistic and literary heritage, and its name, the “Athens of Puerto Rico,” traces back to the early 1900’s when Manatí was the literary capital of the Island.

O Salón de los Poetas Manuel Joglar Cacho é um dos dois prédios adjacentes em estilo Grego. Existe uma sala honrando poetas e artistas de Manatí e exibições de petroglyphs e cavernas.
Inaugurado em 1938 e como parte da celebração do bicentenário de Manatí, este prédio em estilo arte-deco é um monumento histórico e foi recentemente restaurado.
Parte de um importante ecossistema, que inclui mangues, cavernas, estalagmites, estalactites, petroglyphs e o mar. Os visitantes devem estar cautelosos perto da água, especialmente quando o mar estiver muito agitado. Para aqueles que amam o surfe e mergulho a Praia los Tubos é recomendada.
